( 2062 ) Aten is the namesake of a group of asteroids ( Aten - type), cruising mostly run inside the Earth's orbit and those whose orbits.

It was named after the ancient Egyptian god celestial bodies Aten, which is better known under the name of Aton.

The web of Aten runs between 0.79 AE ( perihelion ) and 1.143 AE ( aphelion ). The orbital eccentricity is 0.183 the orbit is inclined 18.93 ° to the ecliptic.

The 0.9 km wide asteroid was discovered on January 7, 1976 by Eleanor F. Helin.
