( 2062 ) Aten is the namesake of a group of asteroids ( Aten - type), cruising mostly run inside the Earth's orbit and those whose orbits.

It was named after the ancient Egyptian god celestial bodies Aten, which is better known under the name of Aton.

The 0.9 km wide asteroid was discovered on January 7, 1976 by Eleanor F. Helin.
