( 2132 ) Zhukov is one of the main asteroid belt, which on 3 October 1975 by the Russian astronomer Lyudmila Ivanovna Chernykh at the Crimean Observatory ( IAU code 095) was discovered in Nautschnyj.
The asteroid was named after the Soviet Chief of General Staff and Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov (1896-1974), who fought in World War II and on 9 May 1945 as a representative of the Soviet Union accepted the unconditional surrender of the German Wehrmacht.
