( 2258 ) Viipuri is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on October 7, 1939 by Yrjö Väisälä the Finnish astronomers in Turku.

The name of the asteroid comes from the Finnish name of the often competitive, today Russian city of Vyborg, which is near the Finnish- Russian border.
