(226 ) Weringia is an asteroid of the main asteroid belt, which was discovered on July 19, 1882 by Johann Palisa at the Observatory of Vienna.

The asteroid was named after the Viennese district Waehring.

Weringia moves at a distance of 2.16 ( perihelion ) to 3.27 ( aphelion ) astronomical units in about four and a half years of the sun. The orbit is inclined 15.9 ° to the ecliptic, the orbital eccentricity is 0.20.

Weringia has a diameter of 34 kilometers. It has a relatively bright silicate- rich surface with an albedo of about 0.20.
