2,3-dimethylbutane is a chemical compound selected from the group consisting of aliphatic saturated hydrocarbons. It is one of the five structural isomers of hexane.
Production and representation
2,3-dimethylbutane can be obtained by reducing with sodium isopropyl iodide in the presence of diethyl ether. Carl Schorlemmer examined the first connection -intensive and used this synthetic route.
Properties
2,3- dimethylbutane is a volatile flammable liquid, which is practically insoluble in water. It exists in two conformational variants that are included in the technical product in a ratio of 1:2.
Safety
The vapors of 2,3- dimethylbutane combine with air to form an explosive mixture (flash point -29 ° C, ignition temperature 415 ° C).
