( 2451 ) Dollfus is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on September 2, 1980 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station (IAU code 688 ) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County.

The asteroid was named after the French astronomer Audouin Dollfus. The employee of the Paris Observatory in Meudon discovered on December 15, 1966 Saturn's moon Janus.
