(25 ) Phocaea is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on April 6, 1853 by Jean Chacornac. The name was taken from the ancient Greek city of Phocaea.

Phocaea moves at a distance of 1.8 ( perihelion ) to 3.0 ( aphelion ) astronomical units, in 3.72 years on an eccentric orbit around the sun. The track is quite strong inclined at 21.6 ° to the ecliptic, the orbital eccentricity is 0.26.

Phocaea has a diameter of 72 kilometers. In about 10 hours it rotates around its own axis. It has a relatively bright silicate- rich surface with an albedo of 0.231.
