Dichlobenil is a chemical compound selected from the group of the nitriles, and organic chlorine compounds.

History

Dichlobenil mid-1950s and was discovered in the 1960s, its herbicidal properties were investigated. It was found that it is very strongly suppressed germination.

Production and representation

Dichlobenil may be obtained by reaction of 2,6 -dichlorobenzaldehyde with hydroxylamine.

Properties

Dichlobenil is a flammable solid that is practically insoluble in water.

Use

Dichlobenil was used as a herbicide. Its half-life in the open air is about 60 days. In the bottom is formed, among others, in the degradation of chlorthiamid. In Germany the approval of the agent by the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety ( BVL) was revoked on August 23, 2004. In Germany and Austria no plant protection products containing that substance is available, in Switzerland, however, numerous dichlobenil preparations for use in the cultivation of ornamental trees and in forest nurseries are allowed.
