(2635) Huggins

( 2635 ) Huggins is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 21 February 1982 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station (IAU code 688 ) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County.

The asteroid was William Huggins (1824-1910) named after the British physicist and astronomer Sir, who explored from 1856 as a pioneer of spectroscopy from his private observatory of the spectra at different astronomical objects. He was the first astronomer who could distinguish by these observations, nebulae and galaxies.
