( 26639 ) Murgaš is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 5 May 2000 by the Slovak astronomer Peter Kušnirák at the observatory Ondřejov (IAU code 557 ) in the Czech Republic.

The asteroid was named after the Slovak painter, inventor and pioneer of radio telegraphy Murgaš Jozef (1864-1929), whose biggest success was the first successful wireless transmission of voice in 1905.
