( 2688 ) Halley is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 25 April 1982 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station (IAU code 688 ) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County.

The asteroid was named in 1982 to mark the return of the comet after him named after the English astronomer Edmond Halley ( 1656-1742 ).
