Eastern Mediterranean
- Antigonus II Gonatas of Macedonia acceded to the throne as the successor of Sosthenes. After two years largely anomie that prevailed with frequently changing kings as a result of the Celtic invasion, Antigonus manage the restoration of Macedonian rule. Near Lysimacheia he triumphs over the Celts.
Western Mediterranean
- Pyrrhus I. conquered the Carthaginian possessions in Sicily and finally stormed the fortress of Eryx in the west of the island. The Carthaginians keep only the city Lilybaeum. The Sicilian Mamertines be defeated by Pyrrhus.
- The Romans conquer the city of Croton.
