( 2816 ) Pien is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 22 September 1982 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station ( observatory code 688 ) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County.

The asteroid is named after the Belgian weather forecaster Armand Pien (1920-2003) named the 37-year long presented the weather and was popular for his entertaining lecture.
