( 2905 ) Plaskett is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 24 January 1982 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station (IAU code 688 ) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County.

The asteroid was named after the Canadian astronomer John Stanley Plaskett (1865-1941) and Harry Hemley Plaskett (1893-1980), the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory in Saanich (British Columbia), Canada were as father and son both active and one of the few families belonged, in which more than one member was awarded the Gold medal of the Royal Astronomical Society.
