Western Mediterranean
- In the Third Samnitenkrieg the Romans suffer under Lucius Cornelius Scipio barbatus in the Battle of Camerinum (now Camerino ) a defeat against the Samnites and their allies.
- Battle of Sentinum ( at today Sassoferrato ): The Romans succeed in a decisive victory against the Samnitem and its allies, whereupon Celts, Etruscans and Umbrians with the Romans make peace. Publius Decius Mus sacrificed himself in battle.
Eastern Mediterranean
- Demetrius I Poliorketes send a fleet against Athens, the Attica before but in a storm shipwrecked. Nevertheless, he manages to impose a naval blockade of Athens.
- Ptolemy I of Egypt begins with the reoccupation of Cyprus. An attempt to help the Athenians with a fleet of 150 ships remains unsuccessful.
- Seleucus wins Cilicia.
- Lysimachus wins the Greek cities of Asia Minor.

- Time of the Warring States: The State of Zhao ( in present-day Shanxi and Hebei ) annexed the territory Zhongshan ( around present-day Baoding ).
