( 29647 ) Poncelet is an asteroid of the main belt, which from the Italian-American astronomer Paul G. Comba at Prescott Observatory (IAU code 684) was discovered in Arizona on 17 November 1998.

The asteroid was named after the French mathematician, physicist and engineer Jean -Victor Poncelet (1788-1867), one of the founders of modern projective geometry.
