( 2992 ) Vondel is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on September 24, 1960 as part of the Palomar - Leiden survey by the Dutch research team Cornelis Johannes van Houten, Ingrid van Houten - Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels.

Named the asteroid is the Vondel after the Dutch poet and playwright Joost van.
