The International Film Festival Berlin 1952 were held to 25 June 1952 by 12.
Summary
The first Berlinale was successfully completed because the new festival was even before the corner. The FIAPF, the association of international film producers, decided on 4 September 1951 that there should only be a single film festival with an international competition. Only with regard to the tradition of festivals in Cannes and Venice both were allowed to continue to carry out a competition with an international jury. Otherwise, the member producers were asked not to participate in other festivals who conducted a contest. From the Berlinale demanded FIAPF not to use more and jury to award more prizes (as it was already done at the Berlinale in 1951, without the consent of FIAPF ). The Berlinale was out of the dilemma by identifying the winner of the Golden Bear by public vote.
In 1952 there was the first Berlinale scandal: Orson Welles's Othello adaptation would certainly be one of the highlights of the festival have been if there had not been a dispute in the Working Committee of the Festival to a two- years earlier criticism of the director on the situation in post-war Germany, the Committee members " anti- German " called.
