(32796) Ehrenfest

( 32796 ) Ehrenfest is one of the main asteroid belt, which by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809 ) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered on March 2, 1990.

The asteroid was named on 18 June 2008 after the Austrian physicist Paul Ehrenfest ( 1880-1933 ), who from 1912 as Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Leiden important contributions to modern physics and worked with the Ehrenfest theorem named after him, a relationship produced between classical mechanics and quantum mechanics.
