Western Mediterranean
- Marcus Fabius Ambustus and Marcus Popillius Laenas be Roman consuls.
- The Roman office of dictator Gaius Marcius Rutilus is transmitted for the first time a plebeian.
Eastern Mediterranean
- July 21: The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, is completely destroyed by arson. The motive was craving the arsonist Hero Stratos.
- The Macedonian regent Philippe II usurped the throne. He leaves the previous king Amyntas IV but alive.
- Philip II of Macedon conquered the city Potidaia and can destroy them. The area is attributed to Olynthus. Furthermore, the Macedonians conquer the city Pydna.
- A Macedonian army led by General Parmenion is taking a successful campaign against the Illyrians.
- The Phocians under their commander Philomelos attacked Delphi, to get to the rich temple treasury. With the money they build a mercenary army of 10,000 men. This leads to the third holy war with a number of Greek city-states.
