The 35th Chess Olympiad 2002 was held from 11 November 2002 in Bled (Slovenia ) on 25 October.

In the 35th Chess Olympiad in Bled 2002 135 teams ( including Slovenia Slovenia B and C) were playing in the open group. The tournament was the Festivalna Dvorana. Below is the final result is a listed as a complete progression table.

In the first three places, the teams came from Russia (38 ½ board points), Hungary ( 37 ½) and Armenia (35).

The Olympic champion Russia played with Garry Kasparov ( 7 ½ points from 9 games ), Alexander Grischuk (7 of 11 ), Alexander Khalifman (7 of 9 ), Alexander Morozevich (7 of 11 ), Peter Svidler (6 from 9) and Sergei Rublevsky ( 4 out of 7 ).

The German men were ranked number 16 and played with Christopher Lutz (5 points from 10 games), Alexander Graf ( 5 of 9 ), Rustem Dautov ( 6 ½ out of 12 ), Jörg Hickl ( 4 ½ out of 8 ), Klaus Bischoff ( 4 ½ out of 8) and Thomas Luther (7 of 9).

Teams of women

China won the women ( 29.5 board points), followed by Russia (29 ) and Poland (28).

China joined with Zhu Chen (7 points from 12 games), Xu Yuhua ( 7 ½ out of 11), Wang Pin ( 4 out of 7 ) and Zhao Xue (11 of 12, Gold Medal ) at.

The German women were ranked number 16 and played with Ketino Kachiani - Gersinska ( 8 ½ points from 13 games ), Elisabeth Pähtz (7 of 12) Jordanka Micic ( 3 ½ out of 7) and Ekaterina Borulya (5 of 10).

The Chess Olympiad is a team tournament. 14 rounds were played according to the Swiss System in Bled. In the Swiss system each evaluation teams are equal among themselves drawn. Each team (Team ) was per team fight use four players. The team competition four single points (board points) will be awarded, which are given in the following table of the 14 laps under the code of the opponent team. The code is a short code for the teams. The result of a team match, the team points (win = 2, draw = 1, loss = 0). In addition, the numbers of recovered, indecisive and lost battles are listed ( = -).

There are supposedly some discrepancies in the order of the lower teams for the official ranking, but this is no longer available on the web. Other Rapporteur, such as TWIC agree with the table below.
