In the first three places, the teams from Ukraine (39 ½ board points), Russia (36 ½) and Armenia came (36 ½).

Olympic champion Ukraine played with Ivanchuk, Vasyl ( 9 ½ points from 13 games), Ruslan Ponomariov (4 of 8 ), Andriy Volokytin ( 8 ½ out of 12 ), Oleksandr Mojissejenko (5 of 8 ), Pavel Eljanov (6 of 8) and Serhyi Karjakin ( 6 ½ 7, Gold Medal ).

The German men were ranked number 16 and played with Alexander Graf ( 6 of 10), Rustem Dautov ( 4 ½ out of 10 ), Christopher Lutz ( 7 ½ out of 12 ), Jan Gustafsson (6 of 10), Leonid Kritz ( 5 ½ out of 9 ) and Klaus Bischoff (2 ½ out of 5).

Teams of women

China won the women (31 board points) ahead of the USA (28 ) and Russia ( 27.5 ).

China stepped in with the Xie Jun (7 points over 10 games, Silver Medal ), Xu Yuhua ( 6 ½ out of 10), Zhao Xue (10 of 12, Gold Medal ) and Huang Qian ( 7 ½ out of 10).

The German women were ranked number 17 and played with Ketino Kachiani - Gersinska ( 5 ½ out of 12 ), Elisabeth Pähtz (7 of 10), Jessica Nill ( 5 ½ out of 10) and Tina Mietzner (6 of 10).

The Chess Olympiad is a team tournament. 14 rounds were played according to the Swiss system in Mallorca. In the Swiss system each evaluation teams are equal among themselves drawn. Each team (Team ) was per team fight use four players. The team competition four single points (board points) will be awarded, which are given in the following table of the 14 laps under the code of the opponent team. The code is a short code for the teams. The result of a team match, the team points (win = 2, draw = 1, loss = 0).
