( 3718 ) Dunbar is one of the main asteroid belt, which from the U.S. American astronomer Eleanor Helin and scolding John bus at the Palomar Observatory (IAU code 675) was discovered in California on November 7, 1978.

The asteroid was named after the American physicist and planetologists Roy Scott Dunbar, who worked from 1983 at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and during that time discovered several asteroids, including Near Earth Objects three.
