39/Smooth is the first studio album by the American band Green Day. It was released in April 1990 on LP and cassette on Lookout! Records and is the only one that had received the tape in the original cast with John Kiffmeyer on drums. Kiffmeyer left the band shortly after the album's release and was replaced by Tré Cool.

A year later 39/Smooth was with previously published EPs 1,000 Hours and Slappy summarized as compilation 1,039 / Smoothed Out Slappy Hours published that reached in the U.S. with over 500,000 copies sold gold status. Often, therefore, 1,039 / Smoothed Out Slappy Hours called the first Green Day album.

Published in 2009 Reprise Records, a rerelease of 39/Smooth-LP.

For the recordings, the band only took a total of 22 hours. They took place until January 2, 1990 December 29, 1989.
