(416 ) Vaticana is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on May 4, 1896 by Auguste Charlois in Nice. The asteroid is named after a hilltop in Rome on the right bank of the Tiber, who gave his name to the Vatican City State.

The brightness in opposition to the Sun due to its orbital eccentricity varies from 12.7 to 10.0 mag. A brightness of 10.2 was achieved likes on 5 June 2008, which represents the best possible value for a long time. Previously was only in 1910 with 10.0 like a larger value achieved.
