( 4506 ) Hendrie is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 24 March 1990 by the British astronomer Brian GW Manning at the observatory in Stakenbridge (IAU code 494 ).

The asteroid was named after the British amateur astronomer Michael J. Hendrie, who devoted himself from 1952 of systematic photography of comets and participated at the 1956 observation of the periodic comets 27P/Crommelin. He promoted the cooperation between amateur and professional observers during the International Halley Watch in the 1980s and eventually headed for ten years, the comet section of the British Astronomical Association.
