(4570) Runcorn

( 4570 ) Runcorn is one of the main asteroid belt, which was discovered on 14 August 1985 by the American astronomer Edward LG Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station (IAU code 688 ) of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County.

The asteroid was named after the British geophysicist Keith Runcorn (1922-1995) named, who explored the paleomagnetic properties of rocks and from 1956 to 1988 held the chair of physics at the University of Newcastle.
