Politics and World Affairs

  • Kimon sends a contingent of troops from Athens to Sparta to support the Spartans against the rebellious helots. Sparta, however, get the Helotenaufstand even now under control and the Spartan elite fear the rise of democratic ideas in Lakedaimonien due to the presence of the Athenian associations. So Kimon and his hoplites as quickly as possible sent back to Athens. This will of course counted as a foreign policy of Athens affront and strained relations between the two poleis and the unfolding power blocs of the Peloponnesian League and the Delian League.
  • Kimon banished on his return by a company initiated by Ephialtes and Pericles ostracism because of his Spartan -friendly policies from Athens. Ephialtes is murdered shortly thereafter.
