( 4716 ) Urey is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered in Chile on 30 October 1989 by the American astronomer at Cerro Tololo scolding John Bus Inter- American Observatory ( IAU code 807) east of La Serena.

The asteroid is named after the American chemist Harold C. Urey (1893-1981), who in 1934 was awarded for his discovery of deuterium with the Nobel Prize for Chemistry.
