• Taranto forms an alliance with Rhegium to withstand the Messapians, Peuketiern and Lucanians, but the combined armies of Tarentum and Rhegium be defeated near Kailia. According to Herodotus, this is one of the worst defeat of the Greeks in southern Italy against the Italians.
