- 482: The Eastern Roman Emperor Zeno adopt the Henotikon, an edict to settle the disputes between the Orthodox and the Monophysites. 484 imposed Pope Felix II excommunication against Acacius of Constantinople Opel, the Patriarch of Constantinople Opel, resulting in the schism between Rome and Constantinople Opel.
- 486: Clovis defeated Syagrius, the last Roman commander in Gaul, in the battle of Soissons. Syagrius fled first to the Visigothic king Alaric II, but extradite him to Clovis, from which it is executed.
- 488: The Eastern Roman Emperor Zeno commissioned the king of the Ostrogoths, Theodoric the Great, with a campaign against Odoacer in Italy.
