50 Words for Snow

50 Words for Snow is the tenth studio album by English singer and songwriter Kate Bush. The album contains seven songs and was posted in Kate Bush's own record label, Fish People 2011. 50 Words for Snow is classified as a concept album, whose wintry basic theme connects different stories about snow.

Occupation

All tracks on the album were written by Kate Bush. Similarly, the production was responsible in their hands. Various guest musicians are assembled on 50 Words for Snow. The first piece, Snowflake is sung in voice of Kate Bush's son, Albert McIntosh, accompanied Kate Bush. Steve Gadd controls on all pieces in the drum recordings. The song Snowed In at Wheeler Street is a duet with Elton John, with the Bush already worked together before.

The eponymous piece 50 Words for Snow is a musically painted recitation of synonyms for the word snow, which are presented by English actor Stephen Fry.

The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung turned 50 Words for Snow on show as CD of the week before. There it was praised as " profound " and " intelligent" concept album. The fact that the tracks on the album with seven to thirteen minutes long and designed very economical with rhythm, commenting on the music magazine Rolling Stone claiming that the songs on 50 Words for Snow had none. Criticized the relatively catchy duet with Elton John, which is presented here as evidence for the thesis that Kate Bush was with this album at its best when it accordingly moves far away from the conventions of pop music.
