Gallic War

  • The rebellious Gauls under Vercingetorix in the Gallic War suffer a defeat against the Roman conquest army under Gaius Julius Caesar in the Battle of Avaricum. In the city conquered Caesar lets his soldiers a free hand: bring 40,000 people around.
  • In the battle of Gergovia the troops of Caesar suffered a defeat against the Gauls under Vercingetorix.
  • Under pressure from the invading Romans Parisii burn ( a Celtic Volkststamm ) her since the 3rd century BC existing island Fort Lutetia Parisiorum on the island in the Seine Ile de la Cité and refer it to the invaders ( Battle of Lutetia ).
