( 5284 ) Orsilocus is an asteroid from the group of Jupiter Trojans. Thus asteroids are called, which run on the path of Jupiter on the Lagrange points around the sun.

( 5284 ) Orsilocus was discovered on February 1, 1989 by the American astronomers Carolyn and Eugene Shoemaker Jean Spellman Merle Shoemaker at Palomar Observatory. He is associated with the Lagrangian point L4.

The asteroid is named after the mythological figure of Orsilocus, one of the twin sons of Diocles, who was killed in battle before Troy by Aeneas. After his twin brother of Jupiter Trojans ( 5285 ) Krethon was named.
