52nd Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)
The 52nd Infantry Division was a military major unit of the Wehrmacht.
Division history
The 52nd ID was set up as part of the second wave formation in victories on 26 August 1939. A portion of the rod and the core staff were subordinated and re- occupied the 339th Infantry Division. In 1939, the 52nd ID border security tasks in the Saar Palatinate and Treves and then served as OKH Reserve in Kusel.
1940 at the start of the Western campaign marched the 52nd ID under the command of the 12th Army through Luxembourg and Belgium to northern France. In this context, the Division battles on the Aisne, was involved in the Champagne and Dijon. 1941 at the start of Operation Barbarossa, the division was moved to Poland and marched over to Vilnius Minsk. At the rivers Berezina and Drut saw the first skirmishes. In the course of the Eastern campaign, the 52nd ID participated in the Battle of Rogachev part, also fought on the Desna, Bolwa, in the villages Sukhinichi and Kaluga. In the vicinity of the river Wolkowskoje Protva the 52nd ID took part in alternately attack and defense operations. In the winter of 1941 they fought in Tarusa and had to retire after 1942 Detschino Juchnow. Then she was back at Roslavl in an anti - partisan operation in use. In spring 1943, she had to meet an ever -increasing enemy pressure, which culminated in heavy fighting at Buffalo position in space Maloye - Beresnowobei Newel. In its area of operations at the section boundary between Army Group North and Army Group Center, a larger Soviet enemy penetration took place, so that the 52nd ID from October 1943 after heavy losses, only a battle group figured that had to be completely resolved on 1 November 1943.
