555 California Street

555 California Street (also: Bank of America Centre ) is a 237.4 -meter-high skyscraper in the Financial District, the Financial District of San Francisco, California. He was until the merger (1998) of banks Bank of America and NationsBank the headquarters of Bank of America, but after the merger, its headquarters were moved to Charlotte in North Carolina.

General Information

At the northern foot of the building there is a place which was named in honor of Amadeo Giannini who founded the Bank of America, named. Middle of the square you will find the black granite sculpture " Transcendence " by the famous Japanese artist Masayuki Nagare. Another name for the sculpture is " The Banker 's Heart", since located near the sculpture "Banker Hall ", some walkways and stairs that lead towards high-rise.

In the 52nd floor of the building there is a restaurant, the " Carnelian Room". This restaurant can be reached with one of the few authorized for public high- speed elevators in San Francisco. The Carnelian Room was closed in early 2010.

555 California Street came in several film and television productions, as in 1971 in the film Dirty Harry, where the building was to be seen at the beginning, and in other scenes where you could admire a generous panoramic view of San Francisco. Similarly, the 555 California Street was shown frequently in Anspann the series Charmed.
