Rory Fitzpatrick

With Rory Fitzpatrick was the vote for the All -Star Game in the meantime a player in second place among the defenders of the Western Conference, which until then had not achieved any point scorer in season and also brought no particularly striking achievements. The result was due to a campaign that was launched by a group of fans and supporters took more and more. Sense of the campaign was the NHL to show in this way that the new electoral system in which every fan as often as he would like to give its voice, has weaknesses. The aim should be to choose a player who is far from an all-star player status in the starting lineup of the two teams. The action has been criticized, among others, Wayne Gretzky, others support the campaign, because they were of the opinion that a hard-working player who is not in the limelight, it deserves to be recognized for his work. In announcing the starting lineup of the All-Star Team on 9 January 2007 it was announced that Fitzpatrick had received 550 177 votes, but only The third place with 23,000 votes behind second place. It was clear that he would not participate in the All- Star Game, as it was not expected that he will be called by the trainers of the Western Conference in the squad.
