  • Spring: The Frankish king Sigebert I. marries the Visigoth king's daughter Brunechildis.
  • Increasing rivalry between the Lombards under Alboin and the Gepids under Cunimund. Also the Eastern Roman Empire turns on and occupied the space occupied by the Lombards fortress of Sirmium. In order to win them as allies against Ostrom and the Gepids, Alboin makes contact with the Avars.
