601st Special Forces Group

601 skupina speciálních sil generála Moravce (English 601st Special Forces Group, German literally 601 Group of Special Forces " General Moravec ") is a special unit of the Czech Armed Forces.

Order

The range of applications is broad and includes not only the classic military mission profiles, such as education, home and Exfiltrierung, direct combat missions and sabotage and intelligence gathering information and all tasks of combating terrorism, such as hostage rescue, etc.

Organization

The unit reports directly to the Minister of Defence and assigned to the chief of military intelligence.

History

The unit was established in 1952 as airborne troops. Since 1960 she has been stationed in Prostějov. Beginning of the 70s it was restructured for spyware and special purposes. The unit transmits its current name since 2003. The Honorary General Moravec name recalls the chief of military intelligence of Czechoslovakia and the Czechoslovak government in exile in London František Moravec, who prepared, inter alia, Operation Anthropoid ( the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich ). The motto of the unit is DUM SPIRO SPERO (Eng. about as long as I breathe, I hope ).

The unit was used in several operations abroad. She took part in operations in Iraq, in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Kuwait, in ISAF and in Europe under the AFOR, KFOR, SFOR, IFOR and UNPROFOR. My first foreign assignment was in Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War.
