(62 ) Erato is an asteroid of the outer main belt, which was discovered on 14 September 1860 by the German astronomer Otto Lesser and Wilhelm Foerster at the Berlin Observatory.

It was named after celestial bodies Erato, the muse of love poetry, of song and dance.
