( 6542 ) Jacquescousteau is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on 15 February 1985 by Czech astronomer Antonín Mrkos on Kleť Observatory (IAU code 046) in Český Krumlov.

The asteroid was named after the French oceanographer and documentary filmmaker Jacques-Yves Cousteau (1910-1997) named, who was with his research ship Calypso to a synonym for the Exploration of the Sea.
