66th Military Intelligence Brigade

The 66th Military Intelligence Brigade is a brigade of the Intelligence Service of the United States Army, subordinate to the United States Army Intelligence and Security Command and stationed at the Wiesbaden Army Airfield.

Mission

The object of the Brigade is the military intelligence support to the U.S. Army Europe and U.S. Army Africa.

Sleeve insignia

Description

A, standing on the top silver gray hexagon with an oriental blue border and the dimensions of 7.62 cm and 6.67 cm above the tops of the flanks. The oriental blue field wearing a yellow sphinx, over which a stationary, silver-gray dagger is laid with black handle.

Symbolism

Oriental blue and silver gray represent loyalty and determination are the colors of military intelligence. Yellow or gold to symbolize the excellent in the industry. The hexagonal shape of the badge is the numbering of the unit. The sphinx, a traditional symbol of military reconnaissance, provides monitoring, prudence and discretion dar. The bare dagger reflects the aggressive and protective basic requirements of the industry and the elements of physical danger associated with the tasks of the unit.

Background

The sleeve insignia was approved on 27 August 1987 for the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade and recovered on 17 July 2002. On 18 June 2003 it was re-authorized and assigned as basic except for the 66th Military Intelligence Group. ( TiOH Drawing Number A-1- 740)

Insignia on the epaulettes

Description

A, consisting of gold colored metal and enamel badge with a diameter of about 3 cm. It consists of one, standing on the top of a hexagon with a chessboard pattern of six black and white fields. In Down is another, smaller hexagon with the flat side up, with nine checkered fields in gold and blue. In the central blue field is looking to the right of the head of a sphinx. To the lower half of the badge a golden tape is placed with the inscription in blue letters: (. Honor daring and security ) " HONOR VALOR AND SECURITY"

Symbolization

The black and white fields are for information and location by day and night all over the world. The checkerboard pattern is for the tactical and strategic possibilities of unity in the reconnaissance. The Sphinx is a traditional symbol of the military intelligence service and is available for monitoring, wisdom and discretion.

Background

The so-called permanent badge is on the epaulets of the dress uniform (and formerly also on the collar of the uniform field and on the field cap ) worn. It was approved on 16 July 1969 for the 66th Military Intelligence Group. On 8 October 1986, it was then transferred to the 66th Military Intelligence Brigade and on October 16, 2002 to the 66th Military Intelligence Group.
