(6701) Warhol

( 6701 ) Warhol is a main belt asteroid of the middle, which was discovered by Czech astronomer Antonín Mrkos on Kleť Observatory (IAU code 046) in Český Krumlov on January 14, 1988.

After FORMING classification (Small Main -Belt Asteroid Spectroscopic Survey) were assumed in ( 6701 ) Warhol from a bright surface with a spectroscopic investigation of Gianluca Masi, Sergio Foglia and Richard P. Binzel, it might be so, roughly speaking, to act an S- asteroids.

The asteroid was named after the American artist and filmmaker Andy Warhol on 23 November 1999, the co-founder and most important U.S. representative of the art movement Pop Art was. On 24 April 2012, an impact crater has also been named on the southern hemisphere of the planet Mercury by Andy Warhol: Mercury crater Warhol.
