( 7010 ) Locke is one of the main asteroid belt, which by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809 ) of the ( ESO) was discovered in Chile on 28 August 1987 European Southern Observatory.

The asteroid was named after the English philosopher and thinker of the Enlightenment, John Locke (1632-1704), of the Declaration of Independence of the United States, the United States Constitution and the Constitution of revolutionary France a major influence with his writings.
