( 7083 ) Kant is one of the main asteroid belt, which by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( observatory code 809 ) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered on February 4, 1989.

The asteroid is Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) named after the German philosophers of the Enlightenment, one of the most important representatives of Western philosophy and his work Critique of Pure Reason marks a turning point in the history of philosophy and the beginning of modern philosophy.
