73rd Academy Awards
The Academy Awards 2001 took place on 25 March 2001 for the last time at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. It was the 73rd Annual Academy Awards. In the year of award films of the past year are always excellent, in this case, the films of the year 2000.
Gladiator was able to win at the 73rd Academy Awards 5 of 12 nominated categories. Among them, the price for the Best Film and Best Actor Russell Crowe (in an costumes, special effects and sound). The Taiwanese martial arts drama Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon won 4 Oscars 10 nominations. Among the for Best Foreign Language Film ( also still camera, music and equipment). Also 4 Oscars got the Thriller Traffic - power of the cartel and could not gild the only Best Picture nomination. He was in the major categories Best Director ( Steven Soderbergh, also was nominated for Erin Brockovich ), Best Supporting Actor ( Benicio Del Toro) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Stephen Gaghan ) score and win the prize for Best Editing. Julia Roberts was able to convince the Academy and won her first Oscar in the category Best Actress for her portrayal of a courageous paralegal in Erin Brockovich. Marcia Gay Harden was honored as best supporting actress in Pollock. The other screenplay award ( Original Screenplay ) went to Cameron Crowe for Almost Famous - Almost Famous.
