• June 22: The Bulgarians under Khan Krum victory in the Battle of Adrian Opel against the Byzantine Empire, which has been trying to make the devastating defeat by the Bulgarians in the Battle of the Warbiza Pass two years ago (July 26, 811 ) amends.
• After the fall of Adrianople the siege of Constantinople Opel follows by the Bulgarians.

• Leo V uses the discontent of the troops after the defeat of Adrian Opel, crashing Michael I. and Emperor of Byzantium.
