( 8525 ) Nielsabel is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on September 2, 1992 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory ( IAU code 809).

The asteroid was named after the Norwegian mathematician Niels Henrik Abel - named, an important co-founder of group theory (1802, 1829 ).
