  • June 18: The resident in Kiev Varangian Askold and Dir undertake a campaign against Constantinople Opel, when Emperor Michael III. is on a campaign against the Arabs. The Siege of Constantinople Opel has to be canceled after the fleet of the attacker is destroyed in a storm on August 4.
