( 8644 ) Betulapendula is an asteroid of the inner main belt, which by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst on 16 September 1988 at the French Observatoire de Haute -Provence in the Alpes -de -Haute -Provence (IAU code 511) was discovered. Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid had been there previously on 17 May 1980 (1980 KX) and 23 October 1981 ( 1981 UK15 ) at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj.
